Citizen Eco-Drive watches have to enter the United States since 1995, when the technology was released. This technology, developed and used by Citizen Watch Co. is a technology for light-powered watches, very expensive to build, but widespread, such as environmentally friendly are welcome. They are considered as a mark of prestige watches.

Both implement the same technologies mentioned above for the duration of the battery and hibernate. For the thermo-versions, in warm environments, the clock without electricity, saving energy, sometimes the second hand move in increments of 10 seconds. A more recent version of the Clock, which was heavily promoted and used in both movements and a solar cell. Some newer versions also have a battery backup,that allow the clocks continue to operate even in the rare case that the power source and the battery has expired.
Citizen is a recognized world leader in the watch industry and Eco-Drive technology has considerably increased the turnover caused when the British Citizen Watch Brand of the Year, recognizing four years in a row.
